PROFILING YOUR KITTY

The first thing that hits you is horror. Then panic. You wander your home seeking your kitty – only to realize that you are alone – more alone than you have ever been in your entire life. The world suddenly seems to grow exponentially – and your baby is lost out there in it. You don't know what happened. You don't know where to begin. You don't know what to do. You're afraid of what might happen if you do the wrong thing. You're afraid you might drive your kitty further away. You're afraid you won't be able to find him at all.

I can help you find your missing cat – and keep you organized and sane while you search. An organized and well-planned search is the most effective search.

First and foremost, you must manage your own panic . Take deep breaths! You must get your head together so you can manage your time wisely.  If you aren't organized, you'll backfire all over the place. Then you'll wind up feeling unfocused, miserable, guilty, and even farther away from your kitty.

Now comes the tricky part: every cat behaves differently under stress .

Cat people pride themselves on their pets' unique behavior – their “catitude,” their ability to make humans feel like they were created solely to pay homage and worship at the Temple of the Cat.

However, when a cat goes missing, suddenly their owners expect their pets to behave and think like humans. It simply doesn't work like that. Cats are always cats. They behave like cats. They think like cats.

To find your kitty and bring him home, you must learn to think like him. Cat logic isn't human logic. But it IS logic: it isn't random, and you can figure out what your cat is thinking. Once you can do that, you can anticipate what your kitty will do next.

And that will help you bring your kitty back home.

Every kitty is unique. Every kitty behaves differently than other kitties. Cat behavior is a reflection of your kitty's distinctive personality. Cat owners recognize and marvel at their kitty's one-of-a-kind behavior.

When a kitty is under stress, he will handle it within the boundaries of his own personality. Owners can predict what their kitty is likely to do by examining traumatic episodes in the past.

Each particular cat will behave differently in each particular situation. But remember this: he is your cat, and you know him. He will behave within the confines of his personality. He hasn't changed. He is simply under trauma. You CAN get him back.

Cats are territorial by nature. They don't wander. They find shelter and stay there until danger has passed.

Will I get him back?

This depends in what you do now and what you are prepared to do. Lost kitties don't just disappear into the cosmos. Most lost kitties become stray kitties because their owners get frustrated and give up. Don't let this happen to your kitty!

So many people call me and say “You probably can't help me because my cat would have come home by now if he could.” If you feel like your kitty won't come back, then you've already lost him.

There is a very good chance you will get your cat back if you have patience and don't give up!

Losing my own kitty has put me in the unique position of being able to empathize with my clients. Since I recovered my lost cat, I have had over five years of experience reuniting families all over the world!

Every case is customized with both pet and owner in mind. Everyone's situation is different, every cat has a specific personality, and all owners and pets have strengths and weaknesses. We will work together to come up with a strategy that will combine the strengths of both you and your kitty so you will recover him as soon as possible!

So what is a cat profile?

Feline Behavioral Profiling is a science specific to each individual missing cat. Three factors are analyzed in each case:

  • the cat's temperament, environment, and history during
  • the circumstances surrounding the cat's disappearance
  • lost cat behavior

Cat Profiling is the science of predicting how each cat is most likely to behave under the trauma of being separated from his owner. Every cat has an entirely unique personality. Every cat's personality affects his behavior. Under careful analysis of each missing cat case, we can postulate with a very high likelihood what happened to your cat and where he is. Once you know that, you can start concentrating on how to get him back. Profiling helps owners focus their search efforts and locate their cats. Your cat's profile will help you plan a recovery that is customized to his personality.

If your case isn't examined thoroughly, you might find yourself:

  • searching in the wrong place
  • searching using inappropriate methods for your situation
  • and as a result, you might never find your cat.

When a dog or cat is lost, pet owners tend to use three methods to conduct their search: (1) place an ad in the paper, (2) post flyers in the area, and (3) visit their local shelter. While these methods are good when searching for lost dogs, they are not necessarily the best methods to use to search for a missing kitty --

They are often ineffective when searching for skittish lost cats!

So little has been known about lost cat behavior in the past that most owners have been helpless and frustrated. They make “missing cat” flyers and search their neighborhoods, waiting for their kitties to come home by themselves.

Owners are left to mourn alone while their pets melt into the shadows of the stray cat population, hungry, cold, unwanted, and anonymous.

Cat Profiling is a science specific to each individual missing cat.
